4.5 Questions with TEDxNormal Speaker Lisa Bodell

Our first TEDxNormal speaker spotlight is on Lisa Bodell, CEO of Future Think and author of Kill the Company: End the Status Quo, Start an Innovation Revolution. Lisa is anything but normal and ready to bring her innovative thinking to Normal. We asked Lisa 4.5 questions because we’re just a little bit different.

1. Why are TEDx talks valuable?

TEDx talks get to the point quickly on what’s really important to learn on timely, life-impacting topics.

2. If the world ends on November 6, 2015, the day before TEDxNormal, what would people die without knowing?

That change doesn’t have to be complex; it can be achieved in simple ways that they can start doing right now.

3. The TED tagline is “ideas worth spreading.” What’s an idea you wish would stop being spread?

My answer is less about an idea or topic, and more in the way it is communicated.  Anything to do with fear, or making people listen based on their creating it, isn’t helpful.

4. What’s your best piece of advice for each person reading this?

Change is a CHOICE – it doesn’t have to always be put upon them. It can begin right now with each person watching a TEDx talk.

4.5 What was one time in your life when you…”realized you had the power to help people change?”

It was the first presentation I ever gave in school. When I believe in something I become very passionate about it and can connect with people on it in ways they can easily understand. My professor came up to me after I gave my speech and asked me to teach the course the next semester. He was so compelled he wanted me to be the mouthpiece for the entire course.

See Lisa Bodell’s message live on November 7, 2015 at the Normal Theater in Normal, IL. Limited seating is available, but depending on your demand and support, live simulcast may be available to allow thousands to celebrate the inaugural TEDxNormal event and see over a dozen impactful leaders share their idea(s) worth spreading.
